The VWGroup logistics is structured in brand and region logistics, in plants logistics, and in Volkswagen logistics which are all coordinated by the Group Logistics Team.

Group logistics

Our Group logistics plays a central, coordinating role for the logistics process within the Volkswagen Group. It sets a framework for action within which brand, region, and plant logistics implement their respective individual optimization. The goal of optimizing Group results is determined by the action framework.

Optimizing Group results means: Realizing high delivery reliability, delivery time in line with market demand as well as extreme flexibility in responding to customers' needs. To achieve this, not only production sites need to be supplied with material they require but also all cost-cutting potentials should be exploited.

To reach this target, Group logistics takes over tasks in the areas of pre-serial logistics for platform purchased parts, program planning as well as in cross-brand demand and capacity management for aggregates, and identical parts.

Group logistics also represents logistics in the Global and Forward Sourcing process and handles international logistics issues.

Besides these core tasks, Group logistics initiates and works on Group-wide projects with brand and region logistics. These projects especially take up and expedite strategic action plans.

Central Brand and Region Logistics

Audi, Seat, Škoda, Volkswagen and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles each have their own brand logistics or respectively logistics organization on a regional level (e.g. Region South America). They work on cross-plant logistics tasks, they are responsible for consolidating logistical responsibility within the brand, and they ensure competent representation for the Group.

Therefore brand logistics is responsible for tasks like - the central program/order planning and demand/capacity management within the brand to ensure production capability - updating master data for logistics processes - performing pre-serial control and processing tasks as well as providing support in product management - the CKD business (Completely Knocked Down) - that is, providing logistical service and supplying production sites' parts to locations abroad - supporting and consulting plant logistics specialists, e.g., to craft logistical concepts or to implement projects to shape future logistics processes and systems.

As a company-based logistics organization, brand and region logistics pay particular attention to logistical quality and service contributions on a broad scale and on a balanced degree of standardization in logistical process. High delivery capability, high delivery reliability, a competitive-oriented ratio of logistics services, costs, and finally the realization of logistical efficiency are paramount target parameters.
