

Our procurement processes are highly standardized. All major sourcing decisions are taken by our central decision-making committee that meets weekly to discuss pending contract awards. Members include sourcing representatives of all brands and purchasing offices, the manager of the purchasing division as well as Global and Forward Sourcing, the Research and Development division, Quality Assurance, Controlling, Logistics, and In-house Production. The established procurement processes of Global and Forward Sourcing are supported comprehensively by electronic information systems. This minimizes administrative costs, reduces paper processing, and shortens response times tremendously. Forward Sourcing Our suppliers for the development of new parts are selected by a standard methodology - the Forward Sourcing Process. In this worldwide sourcing process, the best development and serial suppliers are already integrated in the product development process at an early stage. Decision criteria are innovation, quality, service, and the price for new parts. This process is carried out for all brands with a uniform standard and supported by our application at the B2B supplier platform. Global Sourcing To stay competitive beyond a product's entire lifecycle the Global Sourcing Process is implemented Group-wide for serial parts, that is, for parts used in serial production. Global Sourcing is a continuous process to plan, steer, implement, and control global sourcing activities in order to enhance the quality, service, and competitiveness of serial parts on a sustainable basis. Innovation marketing Innovation marketing is one of our main strategies for bolstering our competitive position. All brands of the Volkswagen Group are searching for innovations together with our suppliers that offer our customers additional benefits. Our goal is to be the first car manufacturer who comes up with exclusive, innovative solutions. Each brand has its individual approaches in that dynamic process.
